What is the date and time of the 2011 SunTrust Richmond Marathon?

Saturday, November 10, 2012.  The 8k gets underway at 7 a.m., followed by the Half Marathon at 7:30 a.m. and the Marathon at 8 a.m.

How can I get an entry form?

You can register online or call (804) 285-9495 and ask for an entry form or print out a registration form.

Only one runner per entry form. There will be NO entry fee refunds or transfers. 

There is NO Race Day entry or packet pick up.

Do I need a qualifying time to be eligible for the SunTrust Richmond Marathon?

No, we encourage the seasoned and first time marathoner (including walkers) alike to take part.  Our course, however, is only open for 7 hours.  This requires a 16:02 per mile pace.

The half marathon course is open for 4 hours.

There is a maximum number of 7,500 participants each for the SunTrust Richmond Marathon, McDonald's Half Marathon or HCA Virginia 8k.

What is the cancellation/refund policy for the event?

Entry fees are non-refundable; race numbers and entries cannot be transferred to another year or person. No exceptions. This means once we have received your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate, and you may not give or sell your number or timing chip to anyone else. Anyone found participating with another person’s number will be disqualified and both people will be barred from future Sports Backers events, including the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k and SunTrust Richmond Marathon.

Once I'm registered, can I switch races?

If you are already signed up for one race and want to switch to the other (i.e., the marathon to the half marathon), you may do so in person at the Race Expo/Packet Pick Up. There is a $10 fee to do so, along with any applicable entry fee increase.

How do I receive my Race Packet?

Race Packets will NOT be mailed. All packets MUST be picked up at the Race Expo held at the Arthur Ashe Athletic Center on Thursday, November 8 from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, November 9 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

THERE IS NO RACE DAY PACKET PICK UP! A photo ID is required to pick up your race packet.  You may pick up a race packet for another pre-registered runner, provided you have a copy of their photo ID.

Are iPods allowed on the course?

Yes, iPods and other personal listening devices are permitted. We ask that you please remember that you are sharing the roads with other participants and, in some cases, vehicular traffic. Always be aware of your surroundings.

How does the computerized timing chip system work?

The SunTrust Richmond Marathon utilizes the ChronoTrack "B-Tag", a light-weight disposable timing device that comes attached to your race bib and requires no additional application.  Do not remove the timing tag from the back of your bib!

What fluid replenisher and energy gel is the SunTrust Richmond Marathon using?

POWERade is the official replenisher of the SunTrust Richmond Marathon. Mountain Blast Powerade (the blue stuff) is served at every water stop. Assorted flavors (vanilla, chocolate & citrus orange) of Accel Gel are offered at Miles 14 and 21 on the marathon course and Mile 8 on the half marathon course.
